Members of the SAS also enjoyed a visit to the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, located in west of Pretoria, a North West Province in South Africa. A 3 hours van journey was required from the Crownbank hotel to Pilanesberg Reserve, and a pitstop along the journey at Chameleon Village offered an extensive variety of authentic handicrafts were available for some shopping.
When members arrived at the Reserve, they are taken on a jeep ride along the designated routes of the safari. Pilanesberg Game Reserve accommodates a rich array of southern African wildlife such as the Big Five which were lions, African elephants, cape buffaloes, leopards and rhinoceros. This are the five most dangerous game animals in South Africa. SAS members also enjoyed observing zebras, giraffes, hippos, deer, warthogs and various bird species at close proximity. When the 1.5 hour jeep ride ended, lunch was enjoyed at an al fresco cafe with an undisputed view of the world’s most outstanding geological phenomena, Pilanesberg Alkaline Ring Complex as their accompaniment.
After lunch, SAS members were being whisked to Sun City Resort located at the borders of Pilanesberg Game Reserve. Sun City Resort provides numerous entertainment and relaxation avenues such as casinos, world class restaurants, retail outlets, golf courses and water parks. Members are spoilt for choice and after trying their luck at the casinos, it was time to return back to Crownbank hotel for a sumptuous Indian cuisine at The Raj.
